About Us

Who We Are?

Having spent a lifetime in Childcare my close friend Kat and I Jay decided we were not ready to retire into oblivion, and as we had both had lots of requests over the past 2yrs to care for little ones due to our Wealth of Experience, we decided to set up Grandma’s Babysitting.

Kate has years of experience as a Nanny and Primary School Teacher. Jay Kindergarten Teacher and Daycare Owner.

Both very well travelled around the world caring for Children and I working with children in Orphanage in USSR and also in Thailand.

With Families now living around the Globe, Grand Parents are sometimes no longer around the corner to fill in for babysitting consequently lots of kiddies never interact with Older People who have lots to offer, just a safe and quiet place for little one to explore, who are not racing off somewhere or in the car for long periods. Grandmas are great Natural Storytellers with comfortable laps to hang out on,

They are not looking for huge weekly incomes, as we have a minimum of 3hrs on any given day this can be one off or regular weekly

What We Do?

Granny Nannies are on the rise as parents seek out more experienced carers – in some cases to fill the role of absent Grandparents, as in the Global Village families are now all over the world and we no longer have, Nana or Grandparents down the road to call on in emergency or just so children have older people to relate to who are not always in a hurry trying to do many chores at once. With a Wealth of experience with Children in Prof Capacity, as Teachers, Nurses Daycare Providers, Kindergarten Teachers and Previous Nannies

Many Older Nannies also care for their own grandchildren as parents return to full-time work and opt for one-on-one care instead of Daycare, it is sometime more flexible and affordable, as Many Granny Nannies not completely dependant on this as Sole Income

Older Nannies choose not to completely retire as they enjoy the children, as many have Grandchildren overseas and miss that interaction, also like the ability to earn more to top up pension

They also have flexibility as many do not have a partner waiting for dinner, and also avail for weekends and shift work It maybe that they have Retired from their Full time Careers and wish to continue to work in a more flexible environment

As long as 24hrs notice is given we are flexible with times although a min of 4hrs is required, cost is all inclusive of petrol, and as Self Employed Contractors, Nannies are responsible for their own Tax, GST and Holiday/sick pay
